Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Marshal Kim Jong Un made a speech at the banquet given in celebration of August 25, the anniversary of leaderKim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership.

He said August 25 marks the 52nd anniversary of great Generalissimo Kim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership, adding that Kim Jong Il, totally dedicating himself with his patriotic will, holding high the banner of Songun all his life, built up an invincible military power and provided the might of the great unity between the army and people to be envied by the whole world and thus placed the dignity of the country and its people on the highest level in the history of the nation. These exploits will remain shining forever, he stressed.

He, reflecting the unanimous desire of all the service personnel of the KPA and people, paid highest tribute and extended eternal glory to Kim Jong Il, who dedicated himself to Songun journeys for patriotic devotion to the country and its people, burning his heart with warmth and love for them all his life.

"I am pleased to be amongst you comrades-in-arms in the eastern sector of the front on this significant day at a time when the enemies are busy with provocative drills for a war of aggression under our nose," he said, and continued:

"August 25, along with April 25, is a historic day to go down in the history of the building of our revolutionary armed forces and the history of our country. The might of the KPA proud of being a powerful revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu with tremendous capability and the dignity of our country, a world-class military power and a full-fledged nuclear weapons state, would be unthinkable without this day.

It is the firm determination and will of the Workers' Party of Korea to defend the security of the country and the gains of revolution and build a reunified thriving nation on this land, tightly holding the arms of Songun provided by  with so much effort, making journeys for the Songun revolutionary leadership all his life.

The U.S. and the south Korean puppet army are staging large-scale war drills for aggression targeted against us even with forces of their allies involved, posing a grave threat to our security.

During my inspection of units on the forefront in the southwestern sector of the front I already issued an order to the KPA to keep itself highly alerted against the reckless moves of the enemies and follow them with high vigilance. If the enemies fire even a single shell on our inviolable territory and territorial waters, the KPA should deal prompt deadly blows at them and the whole army should turn out as one and lead the battle to an all-out counter-offensive for accomplishing the great cause of national reunification. I issued this order to the whole army and examined the operational plan for implementing it and finally signed it.

The courageous officers and men of the KPA, upon receiving this order, occupied their battle positions to cope with the reckless moves of the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces and are now waiting for a final order for charge for a life-and death-battle against the enemies.

There is a limit to our patience.

'Counter a provocation with a prompt counterattack and a war of aggression with a great, just war for national reunification!' This is our principled stand and steadfast will.

We will not remain an onlooker to the enemies' frantic moves for aggression but make every possible effort to protect the destiny of the country and the nation.

It is the truth proved by history that no force on earth can overpower the people who are all out for the cause of justice.

If another war breaks out on this land due to the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces' intolerable actions, though we do not want it, the war will only bring a shameless doom to them and our great nation will greet a new bright day of national reunification.

Only victory and glory will be in store for us advancing under the uplifted immortal banners bearing portraits of the great Comrade Kim Il Sung and Comrade Kim Jong Il with broad smile on their faces.

Availing myself of this meaningful opportunity, I would like to renew once again the firm resolution to steadfastly and invariably keep to the path of Songun traversed by Comrade Kim Jong Il, arms in arms and shoulder to shoulder with you, for our country and revolution."

A rosy future is in store for the Korean people, he said, calling for holding more tightly the arms of revolution to protect their happiness and safety and the dignity of the power of Mt. Paektu.

Kim Jong Un proposed a toast to the final victory of the revolutionary causes of Juche and Songun pioneered by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and led by them successfully, to the health of the commanders and commanding officers of combined units present and all service persons and to the victorious advance of the powerful revolutionary army of Mt. Kim Jong Unsaid there are in the company at present not many soldiers who were received by Kim Jong Il, underscoring the need to invariably carry forward the spirit and tradition of the company and glorify the immortal exploits of Kim Jong Il recorded in the history of the company though an old generation is replaced by a new one.

He dropped in at the bedroom visited by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and saw the places where they were seated and even touched a blanket to guess its quality.

At the wash-cum-bath room,Kim Jong Unwas briefed on the steam bath using hemp.

At the mess hall, he saw a list of daily food supply norm, asking if the company supplies food to the soldiers according to it and if there is anything insufficient. He called for supplying food to them as prescribed.

Kim Jong Unvisited a salt farm operated by the company itself.

He looked round the fire position of the company to acquaint himself with the performance of its combat duty.

He watched the fire position, combat and technical equipment and defense fortification associated with the footprints of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, giving precious instructions.

He warmly encouraged the company's service personnel, telling them that they should join hands with their supreme commander, reunify the country without fail and eternally glorify the exploits performed by the generalissimos. He added he believed in the service personnel on the eastern front and reposed deep trust in the women revolutionaries defending a post on the front.

He called on them to keep themselves highly alerted in view of enemies' reckless maneuvers for a war of aggression and watch with high vigilance the enemies' moves. He ordered them to send the enemies to the bottom of the sea even if one of them intrudes into the territorial waters of the DPRK.

Reading the minds of the soldiers reluctant to part from him, he told them to stand by him one by one and had a photo taken with them.

At the end of the photo session, he promised them to visit the company again and have a photo taken with its commander and political commissar who were absent in the photo session.

KCNA Detailed Report on Construction of Paektusan Songun Youth Power Station

[slideshow id=3]The Korean Central News Agency released a detailed report on the construction of the Paektusan Songun Youth Power Station Wednesday.

The heroic epic in the new century is being created at the construction site of the power station, the report says, and goes on:

The power station consists of three stations in the upper reaches of Sodu Stream in Paekam County, Ryanggang Province. It is a huge project that has to overcome the most unfavorable natural and geographical conditions in the DPRK's history of building hydro-electric power stations.

LeaderKim Jong Illet the youth league take charge of the project. The young people completed the construction of Power Station No. 1 earlier than schedule, creating a new youth speed. They have already finished the building of the basic dam of Power Station No. 2 and are pushing forward the expansion of waterway tunnel in its final phase.

In July 2004, the youth held a meeting to vow to push forward the construction and then laid several kilometer-long road and railways in just 10 days with the same stamina and spirit as displayed by the preceding generation in the projects of laying Haeju-Hasong railway section and building the Youth Hero Motorway.

A plan was worked out to hasten the project of the first cofferdam for the construction of the dam of Power Station No. 1. This constituted the first phase in the whole project. The builders tackled a temporary drainage setup in keeping with the topographical conditions of the area which is over 1 000 meters above the sea level, thus completing the cofferdam project 15 days earlier than plan.

This was followed by the successive blasting for the excavation of earth for laying the foundation of the dam and the second cofferdam project.

The youth introduced new construction method in the second cofferdam project, thus economizing lots of cement and bringing the completion of the project earlier.

They finished in a matter of six months the creation of gravel and sand dumping ground, assorting ground, mixing ground, nine- conveyer belt project and transport and assembling of a crane for building dam. This would take 2-3 years at an ordinary pace.

The youth shock brigade started concrete tamping for the dam. They introduced advanced construction method and innovation proposals to lower the inside heat of dam, thus giving great benefits to the state and hastening the speed of construction.

During 150-day and 100-day campaigns in 2009 they built up scores of meters of dam.

The water tunnel project of Power Station No. 1, key part in the construction of the power station, was a do-or-die battle.

The members of the youth shock brigade sometimes stayed under water for more than 70 hours, fighting water pouring from the ceiling.

They carved words of song "Where Are You, Dear General" on the wall of the tunnel, one line every 100 meters, looking forward to the day whenKim Jong Ilwould visit the completed power station.

They dug the maximum of 9.7 meters a day. The distance covered by each person pushing a wagon for hundreds of days till the completion of tunnel amounted to some 12 000 kilometers.

The waterway was tunneled through for Power Station No. 1 in February 2006. For more than 300 days afterwards, the builders finished the most demanding expansion project and then conducted coating project, thus completing the water tunnel in August 2010.

This led to the earlier completion of Power Station No. 1 in December 2010.

The construction of pebbles dam and water tunnel of Power Station No. 2 has also made so big headway that the construction of the basic dam is to be completed on the occasion of the Youth Day this year.

The expansion project is now under way after the waterway was tunneled through and the construction of Power Station No. 3 is making progress as planned.

The ideological and moral world of the young people has been upgraded during the period.

The members of the youth shock brigade paved "Paektu youth road" out of their yearnings forKim Jong Iland their loyalty for the dear respectedKim Jong Un.

They have established the way of life of the anti-Japanese guerillas at lodgings, worksites and all other places. Their ranks and order remind one of the revolutionary traits of the People's Army.

They brought hundreds of hectares under cultivation, producing various kinds of vegetables on Paekam. They also rear thousands of domestic animals, laying firm supply service bases.

There were those who readily shoved falling stone to save comrades. When trapped inside crumbled pit, they held rock-drills for tunneling before opening road for their lives.

An ordinary girl shock brigade member laid down her life to save comrades under unexpected dangerous situation. Written on her diary were letters "Let us rise up first when the country undergoes difficulty!"

Lots of commanders and members of the shock brigades finished correspondence courses of colleges and became dependable pillars of the country during the construction period.

Officials of youth league organizations at all levels went to the relevant factories and enterprises where they meticulously organized the work to step up the youth shock brigade activities for increased production, thus bringing about remarkable innovations in the production of electric generators and other equipment and raw materials needed for the construction.

The manufacture of "Songun Youth Vanguard" electric locomotive and dozens of freight cars helped relieve the strain on the transport. This was a result of a do-good-thing movement including the collection of idle materials conducted by the youth league organizations.

Young people of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan rendered sincere help to the construction of the Paektusan Songun Youth Power Station, keeping pace with the patriotic devotion of those in the homeland.

The big trust and loving care shown byKim Jong IlandKim Jong Un, peerlessly great men, have become the source of the undying feats at the construction site.

In May 2010Kim Jong Ilvisited the construction site despite his fatigue from foreign visit. He encouraged the members of the youth shock brigade, saying that they have done many things beyond imagination.

MarshalKim Jong Unread a letter presented by commanders and members of the Paektusan Songun Youth Shock Brigade in January this year and sent his handwritings and learned about problems arising in the project and life down to the details.

The day of the completion of the power station is drawing near thanks to the profound loyalty of young people of Mt. Paektu to uphold

Kim Jong Un

Kim Jong Un Inspects Island Defence Detachments of KPA

Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected island defence detachments stationed in the biggest hotspot in the southernmost part of the southwest front.

The first leg of his inspection was the defense detachment on Jangjae Islet near from Yonphyong Island. Having no time to have breakfast, he arrived there by a wooden boat of 27 h.p. despite rough waves without any prior notice.

The service members of the defence detachment who had been busy with combat preparations after starting their routine service welcomed the supreme commander with admiration, joy and great excitement.

The family members of the service personnel ran towards him upon hearing their enthusiastic cheers. They threw themselves into the arms of the supreme commander, tears of excitement rolling down their cheeks.

He kindly patted the children standing by their mothers on their cheeks, asking them what their fathers were doing. He held six-month-old baby Jong Hang Myong in his arms.

He posed for a picture with the family members of the service personnel.

He took deep care of the living of the service members, looking round their bedrooms and education rooms of the detachment.

Jangjae Islet is far from the land but it is a position of the revolution and the lives of the service persons are linked with the blood vessel of the Party, he said, adding he came there to see how they do their service on the islet, a life not easy for everyone.

Noting that the islet in the southernmost part of the southwest front is the one of the spots to which he attaches the greatest importance, he said the everyday spent by the soldiers is a patriotic one contributing to the prosperity of the country.

All of the service members standing guard over the post on the remote islet of the country without being known to others are revolutionaries and patriots, he noted, underscoring the need to provide good living conditions to them so that they may not long for the life on the land.

Then he mounted a watch post, brushing early morning dew.

He learned in detail about the deployment of the firing positions and the targets of the detachment.

He gave detailed instructions to bolster up the military hardware of the detachment and increase the density of fire to cope with the frantic arms build-up by the nearby enemy.

He said that once a war is ignited, the soldiers of the detachment should play a big role, calling on them to keep their firing equipment fully ready for combat actions with the transparent idea of devotedly defending the country and indomitable faith.

He stressed the need for the soldiers to keep themselves fully ready go into action upon the issue of the order to fire and instructed them to deal fatal blows at the enemy forces when they kick off firing, still failing to come to their senses.

Saying he entrusts the islet, the gateway of the southwest front, to the service members of the detachment, he gave them a pair of binoculars, an automatic rifle and machine gun as gifts.

He had a picture taken with the service members and military families.

The next leg of his inspection was the detachment of the KPA defending Mu Islet.

This is a proud detachment as its service members retaliated against the reckless shelling of the south Korean puppet warmongers through merciless counter-action, thus putting Yonphyong Island in flames and demonstrating the spirit of artillerymen of the KPA.

He went round bedrooms and education rooms of the detachment to learn about the supply of water, electricity, etc. He took a benevolent measure for the living of the servicepersons in the hotspot. It is necessary to take care of the living of the service personnel on islets with greater attention than any other units, he noted, calling on the commanding officers of the higher unit to help them at all times so that they may feel at home on the islet.

He walked a steep road which remained slippery because of raining in the previous day to mount the watch post.

On his way to the post he saw traces of shells fired by the enemy from Yonphyong Island and highly appreciated the feats the servicepersons of the detachment performed by demonstrating the might of arms of Mt. Paektu without allowing the enemy side to hurt even a single soldier that day.

The enemy troops on Yonphyong Island recklessly fired shells at the islet without knowing from where the deadly blows were dealt and they were hit hard by the telling shells fired by the service personnel of the detachment here with towering hatred, he noted.

He proposed to award the title of hero to artillery piece No. 1 and the title of heroic defense detachment to the Mu Islet Defense Detachment for demonstrating the mettle of KPA artillerymen before the enemy.

He carefully watched Yonphyong Island clearly visible from the post.

He expressed great satisfaction, saying he came there to examine the combat posture of the detachment if it is capable of countering the enemy deploying additional weapons of various types on the island.

This islet is not only biggest hotspot on the Korean Peninsula but a very sensitive area on which the world attention is focused and where the interests of many countries are intermingled, he noted.

Noting that the U.S. and south Korean puppet forces often stage provocative war drills in those waters of the sea, he said such moves of the enemies are reckless ones that deserve condemnation as they are threatening peace and stability of not only the DPRK but of the region and the rest of the world.

He ordered the servicepersons of the detachment to be vigilant against every move of the enemy and not to miss their gold chance to deal at once deadly counter-blows at the enemy if even a single shell is dropped on the waters or in the area where the sovereignty of the DPRK is exercised.

He solemnly declared that if the enemy dares recklessly preempt firing and even a single shell drops on the territory of the DPRK, the KPA should lead the battle to a sacred war for national reunification, not confining it to a local war on the southwest region.

He also ordered it to turn the west sea into a graveyard of the invaders if they impose a war upon the DPRK.

He gave the servicepersons a pair of binoculars, an automatic rifle and a machine gun as gifts, expressing expectation and belief that they would register laudable feats in the sacred struggle for defending the country. He then had a photo session with the servicepersons and their families

He was accompanied by KPA Vice-Marshal Choe Ryong Hae, director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, KPA General Kim Yong Chol, KPA Lieutenant General Pak Jong Chon, Major General An Ji Yong, and Hwang Pyong So and Kim Pyong Ho, vice department directors of the C.C., the WPK.
