Opening Address Delivered by the Respected Marshal Kim Jong Un at the Fourth Conference of Cell Secretaries of the Workers' Party of Korea

Comrades,

Today we are to hold the Fourth Conference of Cell Secretaries of the Workers' Party of Korea amid the great expectations and interest of all Party members and other people.

The current Conference, the fourth of its kind in the glorious history of our Party, is a significant meeting that has been called according to the lifetime instructions of Comrade Kim Jong Il, eternal General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

By inheriting Comrade Kim Il Sung's cause of building a revolutionary party with credit, he held that developing Party cells is the key to and the main link in the chain of strengthening the Party as a whole. With clairvoyant wisdom and extraordinary foresight, he grasped the requirements of the historic turning point in carrying out the revolutionary cause of Juche and instructed that arrangements should be made to hold a conference of Party cell secretaries on a large scale with an attendance of 10 000 for the purpose of encouraging them to play a large part in building up Party cells.

The Fourth Conference of Cell Secretaries of the Workers' Party of Korea will serve as a milestone in radically improving the functions and role of Party cells and enhancing our Party's militant efficiency in every way as demanded by the new era of the Juche revolution.

On this meaningful occasion I pay the highest respect and eternal glory to Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, founder and builder of the WPK and great images of the powerful Paektusan nation, in reflection of the boundless reverence of the participants in the Conference and all other Party members and people.

I also extend my warm congratulations to the participants in the Conference who have unassumingly devoted themselves to the development of our Party and the prosperity of their country with the honour of and pride in being workers in charge of primary organizations of the glorious Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's Party, and send my militant greetings to all other cell secretaries on behalf of the Party Central Committee.

Comrades,

Today we are faced with an important and heavy task of adding brilliance to the undying revolutionary achievements made by the great Generalissimos throughout their lives and carrying them forward to accomplish the cause of building a thriving nation and reunifying the country, under the unfurled banner of the immortal Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

In order to carry out this important task facing the Party successfully it is necessary to bring about a radical change in all aspects of our Party as the political General Staff of the revolution and construction and the motherly Party that shares the same destiny with the working masses.

The cells of the WPK, lowest-level organizations of the Party and vanguard organizations in implementing its policies, have a very important duty to perform in strengthening the Party organizationally and ideologically, consolidating the ties of blood between the Party and the people and rousing the service personnel and other people to the struggle for the building of a thriving nation.

When the hundreds of thousands of Party cells active in the regions, sectors and units across the country are fully ready it is possible to give a fresh impetus to the development of Party work and the overall national affairs and to achieve world-shaking successes by mobilizing the service personnel and other people all at once.

When all the cell secretaries are firmly united around the Party Central Committee and all the cells of the Party become its solid cornerstones and buttresses, its leadership authority and efficiency will grow beyond measure and its red flag will be flying on the peak of a thriving nation.

The Party Central Committee has decided to make this Conference serve as a decisive occasion for fundamentally improving Party work as a whole by reviewing the achievements, experiences and shortcomings of the past and adopting radical measures for the improvement of the work.

With firm conviction that this Conference will perform its mission satisfactorily by dint of the great enthusiasm and positive role on the part of all the participants here and thus become a landmark event in developing our Party and building a thriving socialist nation, I declare the Fourth Conference of Cell Secretaries of the Workers' Party of Korea open.

Workers’ Party of Korea and Juche Idea

President Kim Il Sung who embarked on the road of revolution for Korea’s liberation in his early years created the Juche idea in the course of going among the popular masses and leading the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle in reliance upon them.

One of the starting points of the Juche idea is that the revolution in a country can emerge victorious only when it is carried out on one’s own responsibility and on the strength of its people and that all problems arising in the revolution should be solved in an independent and creative way.

The President founded and developed the Workers’ Party of Korea guided by the Juche idea while enriching its principles through the revolutionary practice and organizing the struggle to embody it. On the basis of the Juche idea the WPK carries on the Party building and activities, and organizes the revolution and construction. The strengthening of the WPK and the victorious advance of the revolutionary cause of Juche are inconceivable apart from the work to develop the idea in a deep-going way.

Out of the urgent demands of the developing era in the early 1980s, General Kim Jong Il comprehensively systematized into an integral whole the Juche idea, founded and developed by President Kim Il Sung.

He clarified the structure of the Juche idea as its philosophical and socio-historical principles and guiding principles for embodying it in the revolution and construction, with the result that the fundamental characteristics of the Juche idea distinctive from Marxism-Leninism were delineated, proving that it is a scientific and revolutionary guiding ideology for the revolution and construction.

He also explained the fact that the Juche idea raised the fundamental problem of philosophy by regarding man as the main factor and elucidated the philosophical principles that man is the master of everything and decides everything, and thus established the most correct outlook on the world in the present times which enables people to transform the world and shape their destiny independently, creatively and consciously, with a high degree of awareness that they are the masters of the world and of their own destiny.

He systematized in an all-round way the socio-historical principles of the Juche idea and the contents peculiar to the socio-historical outlook of Juche.

Proceeding from the principle that the working masses are the subject of social history, the socio-historical outlook of Juche specifies the following principles and their contents: Human history is the history of the people’s struggle for independence; the socio-historical movement is a creative movement of the masses of the people; the people’s consciousness of independence plays the decisive role in the revolutionary struggle. These socio-historical principles gave fresh answers to the essence, character and motive force of the socio-historical movement.

Kim Jong Il clearly defined the guiding principles of the Juche idea, including those on maintaining the independent stand, applying the creative method and placing the main stress on ideology, and systematized their contents in all respects, thus giving perfect solutions to the important requirements and ways arising in applying the Juche idea in the revolution and construction.

Indeed, the Juche idea, the most scientific and revolutionary ideology, serves as a powerful ideological and theoretical weapon which makes it possible to successfully solve all the theoretical and practical problems arising in the revolutionary practice in the present times.

As it has thoroughly established Juche orientation in all fields of Party building and activities with the Juche idea as its guideline, the WPK has been able to develop into a Juche-oriented revolutionary party and demonstrate its high dignity and prestige as an invincible revolutionary party which established a monolithic ideological system in the whole Party, a powerful party which achieved the solidest unity and cohesion, a steel-like party with strong sense of organization and discipline and an invincible party which is closely linked with the popular masses.

First Sports Day in New Year Marked in DPRK

[nggallery id=115]A ceremony for group running of officials of ministries and national institutions took place at Kim Il Sung Square Sunday on the occasion of the first sports day this year. Prior to the running, Hyon Sang Ju, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, made an address.

He said that a firm material and technological foundation has been laid for developing sports and a turn is being effected in the overall sports work of the country including mass sports activities under the deep loving care of the dear respected Kim Jong Un.



He called upon all the officials to take the lead in carrying out the Workers' Party of Korea's plan for building a highly civilized nation in good health.

The participants, divided into two groups, started running towards Sungri and Changjon streets.

The group running was followed by demonstration performances of mass rhythmic exercise and Taekwon-do exercise for health.

Colorful sports games took place in industrial establishments in Pyongyang including the Pyongyang Thermal Power Complex and many other units on the same occasion

[Video] Kim Jong Un Gives a Speech on DPRK's Successful Satellite Launch

The Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea gave a grand banquet at the Mokran House on Friday in honor of scientists, technicians, workers and officials who made a contribution to the successful lift-off of satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2.

The dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un was present at the banquet together with his wife Ri Sol Ju.



Also present there were senior party, state and army officials including Kim Yong Nam, Choe Yong Rim, Choe Ryong Hae, Jang Song Thaek, Hyon Yong Chol, Kim Kyok Sik, Kim Kyong Hui, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok, Pak To Chun, Kim Yong Chun, Kang Sok Ju, Hyon Chol Hae, Kim Won Hong, Ri Myong Su, Kim Yang Gon, Kim Yong Il, Kim Phyong Hae, Kwak Pom Gi, Mun Kyong Dok, Ju Kyu Chang, Ro Tu Chol, Ri Pyong Sam, Jo Yon Jun and Choe Chun Sik.

Present there on invitation were the scientists, technicians, workers and officials who greatly contributed to successfully carrying out the last instruction of leader Kim Jong Il for launching a scientific and technological satellite in 2012 marking the centenary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung.

At the banquet Marshal Kim Jong Un made a speech congratulating them on their contribution to the successful lift-off of the satellite.

When Kim Jong Un's speech was over, the scientists, technicians, workers and officials broke into rousing cheers, looking up to him who congratulated them on the success though he made indefatigable, devoted efforts for the satellite lift-off.

At the banquet a performance was given by the Moranbong Band in congratulation of the successful launch of satellite Kwangmyongsong 3-2.

Through its performance the Moranbong Band sang high praises of the undying revolutionary exploits Kim Jong Il performed for accomplishing the cause of building a space power and expressed profound thanks to Marshal Kim Jong Un who made sure that the overall national power of Korea of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il was demonstrated before the whole world by successfully carrying out the last instruction of Kim Jong Il.

Its performance also emphasized that the ardent patriotism of the scientists, technicians, workers and officials who fully displayed their fervent enthusiasm and creative wisdom for the successful lift-off of the satellite would be recorded as a brilliant exploit in the history of building a thriving nation.

At the end of the banquet Kim Jong Un, together with his wife and the senior party, state and army officials, warmly saw off the scientists, technicians, workers and officials leaving for the hotel where they put up.

Members of Women′s Union Vow Loyalty to Kim Jong Un

[nggallery id=74]Members of the women's union met at the plaza of the Tower of the Juche idea on Thursday to faithfully uphold the idea and leadership of the dear respected Kim Jong Un, true to the behests of leader Kim Jong Il.

Present there were Ri Yong Su, department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Jin Ha, secretary of the Pyongyang City Committee of the WPK, officials of the Central Committee of the Korean Democratic Women's Union, officials and members of the women's union in the city.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Kim Jong Il. The women's union members took an oath, led by Ro Song Sil, chairwoman of the Central Committee of the union.

She noted all the women across the country are recollecting with deep emotion the noble revolutionary career of Kim Jong Il who dedicated his whole life to the prosperity of the country and the people's happiness.

The world knows no such peerless patriot and great saint of revolution as Kim Jong Il who passed away on a running train while making tireless forced march until the last moments of his life in his padded dress, she said, adding:

As Marshal Kim Jong Un is held in high esteem, the desire of Kim Jong Il for building a thriving nation is becoming a shining reality and the socialist country is demonstrating its dignity as political and military power, nuclear weapons state and satellite launcher.

She called upon all the women's union members to make a tangible contribution to building a thriving nation in the country and accomplishing the Juche cause of revolution under the leadership of Kim Jong Un.

DPRK Strives to Protect Biodiversity

[nggallery id=70]The Workers' Party of Korea and the DPRK government consider the protection of natural environment as one of the patriotic works for the nation's prosperity.

In the country there are many nature conservations and sanctuaries, including areas of Mts. Paektu, Myohyang and Oga. And rare and extinctive animals and plants are designated as natural monuments.

The days from November to next March each year are set as a period for protection of forests and underground resources and the days from March to July as a period for protection of useful animals.

The government has built many nurseries and farms for saplings, fries and such animals as pheasant and roe deer throughout the country.

We'll work harder to improve the nation's natural environment and conserve natural resources while stepping up international exchanges and cooperation for protection of biodiversity.

Kim Jong Un Enjoys Moranbong Band Performance

[nggallery id=45]The Moranbong Band gave a performance "Song in Praise of Guiding Party" here on Wednesday on the 67th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the WPK, appeared in the auditorium.

Among the audience were Kim Kyong Hui, Jang Song Thaek, Pak To Chun, Kim Ki Nam, Hyon Chol Hae, Kim Won Hong, Kim Phyong Hae, Mun Kyong Dok and Jo Yon Jun and officials of major industrial establishments, party cell secretaries, teachers and students of universities in Pyongyang and citizens from all walks of life.

Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys and representatives of international organizations, military attaches and their wives, staff members of various embassies here and foreign guests.

The performance started with the playing of the national anthem. Divided into two parts, the performance proceeded in an atmosphere of overflowing with profound reverence for President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who founded and built the WPK.

Put on the stage were colorful numbers such as light music and song "It Is October", light music for cello "I Know You Only," female quartet "We Will Do the Way the General Did", female duet "Mother", string quartet "Lights from the Party Central Committee" and light music "Do Prosper, Era of the Workers' Party".

The artistes enthusiastically sang of the undying feats the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il performed by founding the Juche-type revolutionary party and developing it into an organizer and guide of all victories of the Korean people and the militant headquarters of the Songun revolution and thereby bringing about epoch-making changes and ushering in a new era of prosperity.

The audience was overcome with deep emotion whenever there appeared on the background of the stage the images of tender-hearted peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu.

The audience was mesmerized by the unique, heart-throbbing and refined artistic representation by female musicians and singers and fascinating arts which have reached a new height in their contents and style including solemn and rich echo that pervaded vast space, gorgeous stage decor and peculiar lighting.

The performance vividly showcased the development of the DPRK's music dynamically advancing into the world, fully representing the Juche and national character.

He congratulated the artistes on their successful performance.

Kim Jong Un Clarifies WPK′s Firm Will to Build Reunified Thriving Nation, Tightly Holding Arms of Songun

Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Marshal Kim Jong Un made a speech at the banquet given in celebration of August 25, the anniversary of leaderKim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership.

He said August 25 marks the 52nd anniversary of great Generalissimo Kim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership, adding that Kim Jong Il, totally dedicating himself with his patriotic will, holding high the banner of Songun all his life, built up an invincible military power and provided the might of the great unity between the army and people to be envied by the whole world and thus placed the dignity of the country and its people on the highest level in the history of the nation. These exploits will remain shining forever, he stressed.

He, reflecting the unanimous desire of all the service personnel of the KPA and people, paid highest tribute and extended eternal glory to Kim Jong Il, who dedicated himself to Songun journeys for patriotic devotion to the country and its people, burning his heart with warmth and love for them all his life.

"I am pleased to be amongst you comrades-in-arms in the eastern sector of the front on this significant day at a time when the enemies are busy with provocative drills for a war of aggression under our nose," he said, and continued:

"August 25, along with April 25, is a historic day to go down in the history of the building of our revolutionary armed forces and the history of our country. The might of the KPA proud of being a powerful revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu with tremendous capability and the dignity of our country, a world-class military power and a full-fledged nuclear weapons state, would be unthinkable without this day.

It is the firm determination and will of the Workers' Party of Korea to defend the security of the country and the gains of revolution and build a reunified thriving nation on this land, tightly holding the arms of Songun provided by  with so much effort, making journeys for the Songun revolutionary leadership all his life.

The U.S. and the south Korean puppet army are staging large-scale war drills for aggression targeted against us even with forces of their allies involved, posing a grave threat to our security.

During my inspection of units on the forefront in the southwestern sector of the front I already issued an order to the KPA to keep itself highly alerted against the reckless moves of the enemies and follow them with high vigilance. If the enemies fire even a single shell on our inviolable territory and territorial waters, the KPA should deal prompt deadly blows at them and the whole army should turn out as one and lead the battle to an all-out counter-offensive for accomplishing the great cause of national reunification. I issued this order to the whole army and examined the operational plan for implementing it and finally signed it.

The courageous officers and men of the KPA, upon receiving this order, occupied their battle positions to cope with the reckless moves of the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces and are now waiting for a final order for charge for a life-and death-battle against the enemies.

There is a limit to our patience.

'Counter a provocation with a prompt counterattack and a war of aggression with a great, just war for national reunification!' This is our principled stand and steadfast will.

We will not remain an onlooker to the enemies' frantic moves for aggression but make every possible effort to protect the destiny of the country and the nation.

It is the truth proved by history that no force on earth can overpower the people who are all out for the cause of justice.

If another war breaks out on this land due to the U.S. and the south Korean puppet forces' intolerable actions, though we do not want it, the war will only bring a shameless doom to them and our great nation will greet a new bright day of national reunification.

Only victory and glory will be in store for us advancing under the uplifted immortal banners bearing portraits of the great Comrade Kim Il Sung and Comrade Kim Jong Il with broad smile on their faces.

Availing myself of this meaningful opportunity, I would like to renew once again the firm resolution to steadfastly and invariably keep to the path of Songun traversed by Comrade Kim Jong Il, arms in arms and shoulder to shoulder with you, for our country and revolution."

A rosy future is in store for the Korean people, he said, calling for holding more tightly the arms of revolution to protect their happiness and safety and the dignity of the power of Mt. Paektu.

Kim Jong Un proposed a toast to the final victory of the revolutionary causes of Juche and Songun pioneered by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and led by them successfully, to the health of the commanders and commanding officers of combined units present and all service persons and to the victorious advance of the powerful revolutionary army of Mt. Paektu.
